Decades of CRAFT
In 2009, we celebrated our 50th anniversary. And rather than rest on our laurels, we’ve only increased our commitment to the highest quality machining and fabrication services that make Craft a market leader. Founded in a humble garage in Hampton, Virginia, we’ve evolved into a company recognized for excellence throughout the US and the world.
Prior to the advent of CNC machining, Craft Machine Works honed a reputation for quality fabrications and exceptionally accurate machining services for both large and small parts.
By the 1970s, Craft had expanded its manufacturing capabilities to manufacture large components including a hydraulic train positioner and railcar dumpster for coal handling.
After receiving a major government contract to design, build, test and deliver 23 portal cranes, Craft was on its way to becoming a trusted supplier for defense, government and energy customers.
Using vertically integrated manufacturing steps and our advanced CNC equipment, Craft expanded its capabilities and expertise for complex fabrication and assembly.
As a provider of pre-machining, fabricating, stress-relieving, final machining, testing and finishing, Craft has become known for its complex welded and machined components.
Craft has continued to progress, grow, and diversify into other major markets, including shipbuilding, energy (fossil and nuclear), and commercial material handling.
